My golf partner and I have been playing golf at the Silver Dollar for 4 years. We really enjoy the layout and price, however today the pro shop manager was really rude to my partner. We know this time of year we should have a tee time but we just wanted to get some golf in. The pro shop manager made a point in front of other customers to chastise my friend for not calling first. The course was not that busy. If I spoke to customers at the airport the same way he spoke to us I would be looking for another job.Mike M
I like Silver dollar for the wildlife (imagine the 11 foot gator here) the ease of the course (greens are not too fast), and its easy to reach location tucked away in Northwest Hillsborough County. Its inexpensive and much easier to get to than you think!!
My friends and I decided to play a new course for Veteran's Day this year. Two of us are active duty and the others were Army Veterans. The initial interaction with the pro shop was unpleasant but we moved on. After playing a couple holes, the ranger came around and rudely hassled us about playing with 5 players. We were the only people within site on the course! On the turn, I stopped in the pro shop to talk about the interaction. The associate that I talked to immediately accused me of lying and rudely interrupted me every time that I tried to talk. During the back nine holes, they had a ranger watching us the entire time. I mean the entire time! I stopped into the pro shop one more time after the round and expressed my disappointment with everything and the guy at the counter just smiled and nodded at me. My friends and I were just trying to play golf to celebrate Veteran's Day and this course ruined it!. I will never play there again, nor will my friends. Very disappointed.
We play this course often. We know that this is not a top ranking course but for the average golfer like me it's great. The staff are friendly and helpful and the price is rightl. The clubhouse is not fancy and neither is the food but it's great for a quick bite and a beer.
Playing many of the courses thru Golf Now does not always get you the same service as if you paid at the pro shop in many of these courses. Silver Dollar was an exception, we were rained our at previous courses and told no Rain Checks to Golf Now Players, deal with Go lf Now. Not the case at Silver Dollar, they immediately wrote us Rain Checks for anytime. When I called thismorning explaining our situation the Pro Shop employee said come on over any time today and I will get your group out, no tee time necessary. I have played the course several times and the fact that it is 3 separate 9 hole courses gives one the option of playing it differently every third trip. It is also kept in great shape in that It is a public course.
We stayed here in our RV and played 9 holes of golf. Were booked for 18 but got paired with someone who had never played golf before. 9 holes took almost 3.5 hours so we bailed. Course was just ok. Greens were sandy, fairways a bit rough. RV camping is crowded and we got stuck right by the sewer treatment plant so the aroma was less than desirable.
This is a rather impressive set-up. The trap and skeet range is the largest in Florida + Tony and I visited twice because he really loved this range. We had a yummy breakfast here as well. The prices are reasonable, the staff and patrons are friendly. Thus far this is the best trap and shoot range I have visited. I love the fact that there are these cute little homes Silver Dollar. They are available for purchase at a very affordable rate - what a lovely idea for retired folks with a limited budget - this way you can practice skeet, trap and golf daily with like-minded people and live walking distance or a golf cart ride from home. The club house has a large amount of branded clothing for sale - Tony shopped here quite a bit and it was affordably priced.
Silver Dollar is the largest Trap and Skeet shooting club in Florida, and is part of the Silver Dollar Golf Club separated only by Patterson Road. This club has either a International, National, State or County shooting Trap competition everyday except Christmas Day.It is Clay Pigeon shooters heaven, the Shooting grounds as well as the Golf Course offer accommodation, so it is possible to be doing Trap & Skeet and play a round of golf without getting into a car. There are evening entertainment do's at both the Shooting grounds and across the road at the Golf Club, like bingo.I rate Silver Dollar as the best shooting Club I have ever visited, throw the golf, accommodation and the evening entertainment it - what more can I say.
Descent layout conditon changes are drastic when it is wet and they hardly ever close. If it is cart path only I would stay away. This course is also part of a large skeet shooting range that has huge tournaments and they shoot right in front of the club house.
Decent track for the money.....Some of the 27 holes seem a bit artificial as if they were an after thought (#1 on the BobCat and Gator)Rough is pathetic but the price is probably the lowest in town
I like this golf course its challenging but also playable by a beginner. The Pro-shop is efficient with a nice bar and restaurant attached. There are 27 holes to play the course is not well maintanied but good enough for an enjoyable round.
The golf was ok, course conditions were only alright, greens weren't the greatest. What made it a poor experience was the guy behind the counter named Art. He treats people horribly and it wasn't just me but the people in front of me in line as well. It was if we were putting him out by coming there to play. Simply amazing owners allow people like that to be in contact with their customers. I won't be back until someone tells me they fired him.
I played Silver Dollar a month ago and it was in good shape with a special effort made on greens maintenance this year. It is one of my favorite courses and one of my "home" ones at that. The nature scenes on some holes are breathtaking and the course layout is exceptional. I would have to say it is a good variety of holes that vary from wide open to tight so you have to use your head . The tees are in great shape as the greens as well. In addition the club pro Bobby Capobianco is personable and has great knowledge as a teaching pro. The club offers Karaoke on select Friday Nights and it is one heck of a party. Other great people that run the facility are always willing to please. I highly recommend this great day os golf and is a hidden jewel in Odessa Florida. Worth the trip!!!!!!!!!!
The course can be challenging. The fairways and greens were spoty from a groundskeeping point of view. As you tend to tee off or putt with concentration, it can be quite nerve racking as there is an outdoor gun club with shotguns going off. Call to see if there is some kind of gun tourney when you want to play. If not, it then can be relaxing.
