I had the pleasure of visting Eldora State House on Sunday, March 1st. The guide on property, George was provided awesome information about the home and followed us around each room to answer any questions that I had! He had a great sense of humor and a great host! Will definitely return for another visit and to fish from the dock in front of the house!

Nice video and good historical information. It is on the waterway, so we found a sunny spot and ate our packed lunch. NO CROWDS

Walking around the area was taking a trip back in time. Very pristine and comfortable and a nice way to spend part of a day. Very attentive staff and a short feature gives you a glimpse into the area's history.

We have been coming here since before any restoration started it was great to go through with Linda who loved talking about it and we saw the film on the restoration. was very interesting how the settlement started and died and it has been restored to it's original grandeur. the one thing I missed were the armadillos ..every other time they'd be out searching for bugs.

I know what I say will be heavily biased because I'm a six year volunteer at Canaveral choosing Eldora State House as my favorite place to work. The house, open from Tuesday through Sunday (if volunteers show up) from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. is a jewel of written and photographic information telling you of its varied 130+ years of existence. From booze filled rumrunner boats to placid scenes of comfort, you stumble across a small segment of America's development by taking the time to read and absorb all that is contained on the walls and plaques and by asking the park volunteers questions. During the summer the lagoon's Spanish name, Los Mosquitos, lives up to its reputation indicating the Spanish in 1513, even with their armor and very bad body odor, mosquitos ruled there first.

Eldora House lies within the Canaveral National Seashore. You can visit the beaches on the ocean side or stroll or bike through the walkways and paths on the Lagoon/Intracoatal side. Eldora House is situated on the Lagoon side and is an easy walk from the designated parking area. Eldora is a restored home , the only home left from the town of Eldora. The artifacts are interesting and informative, the house itself is modest but beautifully restored. Visiting hours are limited. Bring a picnic lunch and/or fishing poles because there is a pier and picnic tables on site.

Cool, old house! I really loved the wrap around porch! What I really wanted was to hit the beach. You can smell the ocean from there!

The Canaveral Seashore Park is famous for it's beautiful beaches and no crowds around. Careful with the kids though some areas have nude bathing. The Eldora House is safe for the whole family and even Grandmother will love it. Enjoy FloridaPhil

Went to the Canaveral National Seashore where this house is. Open limited hours. Ranger there for a meeting, let us in before the house was actually open to the public. Interesting for what it represents, only building of it's kind left. Loved sitting the porch in a rocker.

We visited this wonderful house on the shore of our kayaking adventure from New Smyrna. There are several trails to follow, picnic tables and comfortable chairs on the porch to take a break from the long paddle. we enjoyed a picnic with some friends as well as a tour of the house. A great way to split up the trip. Saw dolphins and pelicans fighting over a school of fish. A great treat....the pelicans won.

My family and I very much enjoyed our trip to the Eldora State House! The house and grounds are beautiful! Learning how individuals lived and worked during that period was fascinating! The staff was so friendly and very knowledgeable! Relaxing on the porch of the Eldora House in the rocking chairs, feeling the cool breeze off the water is in itself worth a visit!

We went to check out the state house and walked down the path to the home only to find that it was closed until Fridays. There was not sign indicating the open hours at the beginning of the trail.

We walked back to the house only to find it closed despite the hours posted on the door. In fact we waited 1/2 hour for someone to show up. We did manage to enjoy the rocking chairs overlooking the lagoon. Maybe next time.

Take bug repellent. The path from the parking lot to this tenderly restored house has a bench about half way. The mosquitoes put it there. It's a trap for tourists. Once you get there the nick knacks and old photos are almost better than the home. The house has a water view and a porch with a dock and landing. But don't dally out there because they will come for you.

We walked the short distance from the parking lot to the Eldora State House to find a very knowledgable attendant who told us all about the State House and the history of the area. We highly recommend this "off the beaten path" attraction.
