Knew about this place for a long time, but just visited now. It is a Victorian house owned by 5 different families, including a former Ohio governor. There are 3 floors and an observation level with a lot to see in the house. It is only $5 per adult and the tour guides do a wonderful job. This is something nice to do on a Sunday.

This is a beautiful former governor's home which is now the home of the Greater Milford Historical Society. The guides are very friendly and love to talk about the history of the house. They always have interesting exhibits, art shows and even tea parties. The gift shop area is nice and reasonably priced. It's a lovely place for a picnic or photography. Check out their website for hours and more info: http://www.milfordhistory.net/

its a great place to go for Milford History. I enjoyed the history behind the promont house. The people that work there will tell you a story of the history.

While in Cincinnati my wife and I were looking for something to do - using TripAdvisor I found Promont House - although not from the area I am interested in history - it was a pleasant surprise - and our guide it turned out was from the same town in Ohio that my father was born and raised in - Delphos - so we had some interesting conversation - this house was owned at one time by John M. Pattison, the 43rd Governor of Ohio - the most interesting feature to me was the 2 cisterns on the 4th floor used to catch rain water and then use it for bath water after heating it

From the time I was a small child I always wanted to know more about the house on the hill. So one day last November I decided to stop and check out Promont House. The house is even larger up close. The Promont House, is of Italianate–Victorian structure built in 1865 and owned at one time by John Pattison, the 43rd governor of Ohio. Promont is three levels of museum that exhibits furniture, textiles, clothing, personal artifacts and paper archives. The November visit they were having the American Doll display and afternoon tea for a group of young girls. I was told that they would start the Christmas decoration some and I should come back to see. I came back mid-December with my wife expecting full Christmas, I was disappointed, as the home was in Vistorian Chirstmas period. But there is still plenty to see.

This beautiful Victorian mansion ,circa 1865, is the former home of John M. Pattison, Ohio's 43rd Governor. It is currently owned and operated by The Greater Milford Area Historical Society. It's available for rent for events such as weddings & birthdays, etc.Don't miss climbing the 3 story spiral staircase to the top of the tower - for a great view of the Milford area. The museum features period furnishings, a reference library, changing exhibits, and a gift shop. Docent-led or self-guided tours are available during our normal museum hours of 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM Friday to Sunday. Best to call ahead to be sure a volunteer will be available to admit you to the mansion (life happens).Well worth the $5 admission charge that goes to building upkeep.Best for adults & older children. Not handicap accessible - it's OLD.
