when you're in wine country, you have to find the extra "thing" besides the (Pinot) wine and at Raptor Ridge it's the view! The wines were good too! The lady running the tasting room was friendly, courteous and just a lot of fun to hang out with for an hour or so. There was no feeling of being rushed through to get to the next customer.Defiant key a must stop on any wine tour through Newberg! And don't let this one wait until the end of your day

In the northern part of the valley, a very quick run from Portland. Nice view, nice tasting room set-up. We'd been here 3-4 years prior and decided to revisit. $15 for a tasting (Pinto Gris, 4 or 5 Pinot Noirs, 1 tempranillo). Fee waived with $50 purchase. Most bottles run $45. High quality. The young lady assisting us was personable, knowledgeable and appreciative of our visit. Would have loved to buy a bottle and stay for a while, but the weather was rainy and cool.

Had tasted their pinot noir a couple of years ago and made a visit to the winery a high priority during a recent trip to Oregon. Leslie was a wonderful "host" - answered all of our questions and gave us some great tips on lunch and some other local attractions. The views were wonderful. Oh yeah, the wines... very, very good.

Hands down the winery that inpressed me the most during my weeklong visit to Willamette Valley. The Pinot noirs had great balance making them enjoyable from the first sip but never boring. These wines had the complexity of a good mystery novel - the type that makes you stay up way past bedtime the reach the end.My kudos for this winery however is not just based on Pinot. This winery is making other varietals I did not taste elsewhere in Oregon (temporillo and Gruner Vertliner ) and making them well. I want to recognize Leslie Kossoff, the tasting room manager whose passion for the wine was palpable . Leslie was willing to discuss the individual wines and the winery in a way that made the tasting enjoyable and informative.Although I am still dismayed with the tasting fee structure in Willamette Valley, I felt the $15 tasting fee for 6 wines was money well spent.

Nice views and soaring hawks make this a relaxing place to visit. None of that would matter much if the wine wasn't good. Fortunately, it is quite good, especially the Pinots.

This place is amazing. Wines are wonderful and the staff is very knowledgeable. Views on a clear day of 5 mountains. Very easy to find.

My first visit to Raptor Ridge just happened to coincide with their Grand Opening. We were invited guests by our friends from Beaverton. Having read the book, "Sideways," and having tried several California Pinots (and not being very impressed), I visited Raptor Ridge with a jaundiced eye. After a few tastes, I fell in love with the 2007 Raptor Ridge Pinot Reserve, 2009 Pinot Gris, and Tempranillo from their Library. We were given a tour of the winery by owners Scott & Annie Shull. Overall, the entire day was an experience we will not forget. My wife an I continue to pour wines at various wineries in Washington, but we will be making annual visits to the Willamette Valley, as well as return visits to Raptor Ridge.

I wasn't super impressed with the wines and I really didn't care for the lady in the tasting room. Then after we opened the bottle of wine, it was corked. I KNOW that wines will be corked every now and then - that's NOT a comment on the quality of the wines here at all!!!! BUT when I called to let them know that our wine we purchased was corked (to see about getting a replacement bottle which is an industry standard) they said, "That happens and we can't do anything about it". I would prefer to go elsewhere.

It's a little difficult to get to, but once there it's so gorgeous overlooking the Willamette Valley. And good wine on top of it. Can't get any better
