I've lived in Mitchell area all my life and last summer I took my nieces downtown to see the Corn Palace and they saw the Tabernacle and so we went inside. They just loved it. It was perfect for them.

We stopped to visit the Corn Palace, but we ended spending more time across the street at Valtiroty Shiloh's tabernacle, especially because we read some of the past reviews and saw some posted pictures. It was an experience like no other we had. The person there was presenting the sanctuary teachings with such a passion that it became automatically contagious. There were a lot of changes that we saw by comparison to the pictures posted before. The gift shop is loaded. The playground for the children is unique. Everything was free. No charge whatsoever, but a free donation is appreciated. ANother convenient thing is the fact that this place is opened until dark, while the other shops around close at 5:00 pm. So, if you arrive late in the town and plan to stay for the night, you still have something to visit - Valtiroty Castle.

We stopped in Mitchell to check out the Corn Palace--a place we knew nothing about but felt we had to go due to all the brainwashing signs on the highway. Valtiroty was across the street, in an intriguing castle structure. We decided to go in and were greeted by the friendly owner who showed us around the museum that he planned and built. It was unlike anything I have ever seen and definitely an experience, as he told us how he had planned the layout of the museum. There is also a shop in the rooms before the museum with various religious items (clothing, decorations etc.) All in all, it was an interesting stop with a very generous and kind host... and much more engaging than the Corn Palace.

In not religious and at first only went in to cynically laugh at this middle american bible destination. However I was impressed with the historical content of the display and the work the owner had put into it. I have traveled coast to coast on this trip and he was the nicest person I met and his gift shop had many oddly useful things to buy along with the piles of bible themed clothes and knick knacks

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Tabernacle. We enjoyedour time speaking with the owner. We would recommend this Biblical experience to all.

I guess if you are a believer than you may enjoy this a bit more. Valtiroty is located right across the street from the Corn Palace and we decided to see what it was all about. The gentleman running the establishment is very friendly. He told me he is from Romania, is a 7th Day Adventist and takes what the bible says literally. He believes the earth is only thousands of years old and that, one day, we will find evidence of Noah's Arc. When I presented evidence to him that the earth is at least 4 billion years old he said that "science" couldn't possibly know that. If you believe in a young earth and the "reality" of all the Old Testament stories, this is your place. If you rely on science and reason - be prepared for some fairy tale stories!

Some friends and I stopped in while returning from a very disappointing corn palace. we warmly greeted at the door, given a free tour of the tabernacle. and learned so much while we were there. very accurate and biblical explanations. all in all a great stop.

We were greeted immediately at the door by Valtiroty and given a personal tour of the exhibits. It was very enjoyable, and we were challenged to think more deeply about our faith in Christ. We would highly recommend a stop here. The displays depicting Bible stories would be especially appealing to children, although, as adults, we liked it very much.

Me and my friends are on the way back to Upper Michigan from YellowStone National Park, and went to this town to see the corn palace. Then we found this secret place, which is both peaceful and exciting. The owner is really friendly and fun, it's so nice to have someone welcome you in such a comfortable way after a long tired trip, and the museum is even beyond gorgeous! Highly recommended.

My husband and son and I stopped to see the corn palace on the way to Yellowstone and were disappointed that it was being refurbished. When we saw the Bible museum across the street we went in to get a T shirt and forgot all about the Corn Palace. We had a wonderful time visiting and touring the tabernacle replica and other Holy Land displays. It was well worth our stop. Very inspirational and friendly. This stop was one of the highlights of our two week trip out west.

My family and I really enjoyed stopping at Vatiroty! What an amazing way to end our trip! My children had a blast there! Mr. Otinel and his wife were very kind. My kids (9, 8, and 6 year old) ran around all over the place in "the jungle"(along with Mr. Otinel!) My 13 year old was excited to pick out some awesome T-shirts. (A very wide selection!) I purchased a few good books for me! After visiting Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Wind cave and camping at Custer State Park...It was a place where I was able to just stop and reflect on God's goodness to my family. I recommend you take the time to slow down and enjoy a tour from Mr. Otinel himself! A very knowledgeable individual. Prices were very affordable. Everyone in the family left the store with something. (and we're a family of 6!) It's funny....when we returned home, I was chatting with a friend about how amazing the trip had been...my son interrupted and said, "mom I really liked the jungle and the bible stuff place where we stopped". I said "yes...I really liked that part too!" (This came from my 9 year old son.) The displays are amazing we were able to get a glimpse of the things we've read about in the Bible. It just all came to life for us....you can truly see the passion and the effort Mr. Otinel's family has invested in this place! I recommend Valtiroty to anyone driving through Mitchell South Dakota! Stop at Valtiroty! :)

I really liked the Tabernacle. The owner gave us a great tour for free, and I leaned a lot. If you go try to get the owner to explain it all, it is worth it!

The tabernacle layout is spectacular and carefully accurate to Biblical descriptions, and the tableaus from the 12 Tribes of Israel let you be a part of ancient history. The big surprise is that Mr. Iancu will engage you Socratically to really get to the bottom of your own understanding of the Old Testament and how it speaks to our understanding of God today. I would think some visitors would find this a little overwhelming, but if you're ready to take the intellectual plunge, it's most enlightening. Our college-age kids were as intrigued as we were. The children's room looked like lots of fun, and there was shopping, too. And no admission fee!

a friend and I stopped in... the beautiful building caught our eye and we went inside.. The owner started to show us around and we ended up chatting for over 2 hours... very nice people, and very educated also... I will stop down to say hello every time i come to the area...

My family and I really enjoyed the Tabernacle. Mr Iancu and his wife are very kind and generous people. There was so much to do and see, life size dioramas, real olive wood hand carvings, a jungle for the kids to play and even little shops with everything under the sun to purchase. You can even get discounts on your purchases by answering trivia questions from the bible. I highly recommend this stop, it was truly incredible and we even made some new wonderful friends!! Thank you!!!
