I am a part time resident, and have played them all here. #4 is an awesome track, very canny with the green complexes (like every course here), and has some very fun holes. The par 5's are accessible, make a score there, because the par 3's are pretty tough. Do #2 and #4 in the same day, then head to Dugan's for a well earned beer!

Liked the course ...my game was not great but we had lots of laughs!!The grounds keepers do an amazing job.Slso loved the fact that while playing you are able to see some awesome homes!

#4 is my favorite of the Pinehurst Resort courses. What you see is what you get. The layout is very challenging but consummately fair. It was in great shape and has some beautiful scenery. It is not tricked up like the greens on #8 and much more reasonably priced than #2, although #2 is very special.

I have played most of the courses at Pinehurst and in Moore county. This one is top 5 - I would play it over #2. Most holes are postcards holes as they are really picturesque. The first two holes you get a bit of #2 type greens then just great holes thereafter. Play the par three at different lengths as you are likely only going to play this course a handful of times. As with most of the Sandhills courses -stay out of the pine needles. Short and straight is better than needle play.

Played no. 4 with 15 golfing buddies. Everyone enjoyed the course and layout, though found the four 3 pars playing too similar in yardage. The topography is nice, the view and presentation is the nicest of nos. 1-5, and the 18th is an excellent finishing hole. If you can fit it into your "package" or visit, you will not be let down.

Skip spending outrageous price for Pinehurst #2 and play this course! They do have lower rates during the off season? played this in Sept had the entire course practically to ourselves! Then sit on the big porch of the clubhouse and watch the big spenders putt off 18. The pro shop is incredible, bought hubby a bunch of Birthday gifts!

#4 was our final round at Pinehurst and it was as enjoyable as the others (2, 7, 8 and 5). The clubhouse (shared by 1-5) has a wonderful collection of pictures and it is fun to loiter in the halls looking at the collection. The starter was fun and welcoming. The pace of play was good and the conditions were very good. I am not sure where I would rank #4 with the others we played but I had no regrets about playing it and would not hesitate to give it another go if and when I return.

Great course but he US Open effectively closed down the 1st and 18th. They were turned into par 3's when we played.

Beautiful course that was in fantastic condition. My favorite of the pinehurst courses I was able to play which included 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8.

We played Pinehurst #4 on May 1, 2014 and had called days ahead to find out course conditions and it eh greens were recently aerated. We were assured that the green had not been aerated and were rolling true. What they failed to tell us was Holes #1 and #18, both Par 4s and the #1 and #2 handicap holes on the course, had been shortened to 100 yards Par 3s because they were taking space to construct pavilions for the #2 course next to it. There was also no discount on the green fees. Throughout the round workers were busy putting up temporary fencing around #2 so there was plenty of noise and carts mving around. The layout of the course looked great but the distractions and above mentioned course alterations took away some of the enjoyment. I'd like to play there again when it's less hectic.

Very nice and fun to play, staff was very helpful. The starters were more than happy to help, when I arrived all my bags and partners bags were in appropriate place and we started on time, all went well. Will go back

For those of you who have played No 2 and No 8 this is the next must play course. Designed by Tom Fazio as a tribute to Donald Ross this again has many crowned greens like No 2 but rather than large areas of waste ground and almost no bunkers No 4 has 140 pot bunkers to test your bunker play, and these are proper bunkers they are a hazard, when you are in one just concentrate on getting out and continuing your round you will not be hitting it 180 yards and holding the green! The Par 5 13th is a brilliant if you hit the small landing area you have a real choice go for glory to a green with a lake encroaching or lay up and try for the birdie!Enjoy it, I did.
