Great place to fish and for camping it is really nice also. However, who in their right mind would build cabins without putting in bathrooms in them ? It would have been better to not have put in the cabins at all. I think the reservoir is a great place to go to for the day. And if you have a RV or even just a tent it is a great camping area. But those individuals who pay to stay in a cabin that has electricity, beds and even running water would assume there wold also be a place to relieve oneself at 1:00 AM without going outside to a public toilet. I believe the Tyler Administration really dropped the ball on this one. I will definitely camp out at the reservoir again. But I do not believe I will be trying out the cabins.

I have lived in the Prairie Creek area for 30 years. I have seen many changes in the Reservoir area and most have been positive. The beach area, although under construction this year is nice although we don't swim there. Many do, and enjoy it very much. The south playground at the beach area is very nice and has all new equipment. The walking paths are nice. For years, the Reservoir area has the been the home of our local high school's cross country meets. The non-path areas are nicely mowed and it is a great place to go running. One of the biggest attractions of the year here is the Iron Man Triathlon, held in early summer. For one Saturday, the area is pretty much closed to local traffic. When my kids were small, the fireworks at Prairie Creek on the 4th of July were excellent, especially when viewed from our pontoon. The campground area can be nice at times, but on summer weekends, the drinking and partying is probably not the best environment for children. There are some new rental cabins that look nice from the outside, and are reasonable in price. If I were looking for an escape, the campground is not a quiet nor pristine wilderness experience.

My husband, two kids, and myself came to Muncie for a motorcycle benefit ride. We hardly ever have an opportunity to camp with the kids, so we thought this would be the perfect opportunity. It's the first night, 5:20 in the morning, and we have a drunken idiot circus for "neighbors". So far I've heard a barrage of foul language, reference to drugs, idiot drunken ideas, stupid conversation, and throwing up 20 feet from our tent, and I've only been awake (waken by the idiots) for 20 minutes. I mean, you would think these guys would pass out already - they've been drinking since midnight. If we were in a camper, we'd definitely be enjoying our slumber, but unfortunately no soundproof tents exist yet. Things that might be helpful to know: Bathrooms are relatively clean and are not open pit kind. I have 4 bars of LTE service. Grounds were/are clean. No trash on the ground that I've seen. With the exception of moron-fest beside us on both sides, fellow campers are friendly and nice. Overall, not family friendly if you're in a tent.

I have a great school child, and my wife and I took her on a camping trip to this place. The views were beautiful, the water seamed cleaner than most bodies of water located in Indiana. Though the campground did not have a lot to offer, it was right by the water and a small playground. There is a much larger playground down the road a mile or two. Bring bikes, fishing poles, blow up raft / canoe / kyak and you will have fun if you ar lookin for a getaway from "the busy life".

nature wise this place is awesome for a day trip, nice place to fish, from shore or with a boat, friendly people at the marine , nice pontoons they have for rent A++++ from usthe toilets are awful dirty, 30 minutes later I was still gagging, even with garbage cans all over the place, trash can be found everywhere, from beer bottles to blankets.the security is rude, this lady needs another job or need a course of politeness!!!and $12 a night for a dry camp, I seen free campgrounds in much cleaner shape

Since Dennis Tyler was elected as mayor of Muncie, numerous improvements have taken place at this facility. A new bath house and playground equipment have been added to the beach area. 5 rental cabins were added for the 2014 season which is great for those who dont own a camper or tent and the prices of these rentals are a real bargain (about $50 per night)These cabins face the water but DO NOT have any shade or trees surrounding them. However, a sun canopy or a screen type shelter can easily remedy this. The park always looks very nice now and gets mowed frequently. Several more upgradess are in the works and some brush, tree, bush, and thicket removal are really helping to improve bank access for fishermen who dont own a boat. The cramped together campground needs a total revamp..or even betteryet....a new modern campground would be a very welcomed addition as the current camping area is much too crowded and full to give one the desired camping experience. The one other draw back is the lack of an on site restaurant since the last one closed down. You can purchase gas, snacks, pizza, a few deli items (and I think lunchmeat sandwiches) from the Mt Pleasant Grocery Store just on the outskirts of the park and the bait shop also carries some essentials. Numerous restaurants, ice cream, and shopping can be located nearby in Muncie, Selma,& Parker City for most every need. EnjoyJ.

I went fishing with my cousin on his pontoon at the Reservoir and had a great time. The area is extremely well kept up and the water was very clean. Caught several fish and yes they were good.

If you stay on your boat all night be ready to get woken up at 5 am by some IDIOT bass boater flying down the lake 30 ft. from shore about 30 mph. slamming your boat against the dock splashing water all over the back of it.. other than that we have always had a really GREAT TIME up here been here since 07 that is the only problem we ever had .. Love the Camping up there to. but the beach was open except during the time of the Triathlon / Bike races, I wasn't up there any this year ( 2013 ) because I was working to much but PLAN ON being back for 2014.. We were fishing on our pontoon late in the evening. I heard from a lot of people before what in this lake they punished you for every little mistake, so we had everything that require on a pontoon, including fire extinguisher. Before we decided go home I put the cover on our bikini top and accidentally shake the lite on the top of bikini top.We start to drive pontoon to the shore with speed less then 1 mile per hour for less than 7 min. and was stop by police lake patrol. We fix the lite right away, but they give me ticket anyway.I am was not even aware that lite was somehow disconnected, because all other lite was on. We having a pontoon for first 2 months and they can just give me a warning. It is no reason to punished good people like that. All evening was spoiled. This is how this lake get bad reputation. Last time my husband forget lock our track and 2 things was stolen, nothing important but funny question : "Where was the police patrol?'" Be careful there.

I would rate this place higher on the scale of lakes to visit were it not for it being so redneck. Mostly a pontoon and fishing lake as there is no power boating allowed. Definitely don't want to camp there unless you like the Stars and Bars.

The staff is so very nice, but the campground itself is a seasonal campground with seasonal patrons claiming ownership of the campground and its sites. Pontoons, rv's with permanent wooden decks, a lot of cigarette smoke, and loud, profanity-laced campfire conversations that last well into the night. With children. One seasonal patron told us to change campsites because he kept his firewood on our site. We even witnessed two women in a drunken fistfight at 11am.

I love it out at the reservoir - but the camp ground is really just a bucn of RV's that pretty much stay there all summer - and the swimming area is the "pits". Best thing to do at the Reservoir is to ride around on your bike - and look at it. (Unless you have a pontoon boat??)

I was here for the Muncie Triathlon. While it is a pretty lake, the "beach" seems as if it hasn't been touched in decades. The park was gross and dirty, gravel parking lot, and the facilities to use the restroom are boarded up and gated off. It's the middle of summer so I assume that the actual beach isn't even used by the public. Everyone had to use a porta potty. Looks like the beach building was shut down decades ago.

Prairie Creek Reservoir is located near Muncie Indiana. The park itself is great, and the new mayor has been making sure that the park is being mowed and kept up. The campground showers need a complete overhaul and are not private enoughfor todays standards and environment. Many of the camp sites lack any shade at all and numerous sites are way too close to one another. There is a bait and small grocery store nearby. Over the years, the erosion of locations for fishing from the bank areas has taken place in a huge way. This is not to say that you cant find a fishing spot but....you may have to search around awhile to locate a decent spot. Overall, its a fairly nice park. However, your fishing opportunities are limited if you dont own a boat.
