Most of the stores in here were upper end. Found this establishment to be a little pricey. The pretzels were reasonable and very good!

This building has several small stores. I like the fabric stores since I'm a quilter. I got candy, hot pretzels, books & some crafts items. They havee 3 floors of about everything. They have an old fashion carousel that you can ride.

Shipshewana is a unique place. It is the location of the 3rd largest Amish settlement in the United States. The Amish (and Mennonite) influences are everywhere. This is also true of the Davis Mercantile. The Davis Mercantile, is a large indoor shopping center. It has quilt stores, fabric shops, a pretzel restaurant on the main level and other interesting and unique shops. A more traditional restaurant is on the top floor near the old tine carousel that your kids will love. There is a toy store and a candy shop on the top level. And there is a large musical instrument store, women's clothing and lots and lots more to see and do.I like the look and feel of the interior of the place.... In the middle of the structure is a large tree trunk which looks like it supports the multi-story building. The raw and beautiful wood that is the structure is exposed for all to enjoy. It is a destination in its own right.... and a great place to be if it is cold or rainy. You gotta see this.

Visit the Davis Mercantile building in Shipshewana, IN to first, admire the building. The central focus is the tree that the building was built around... there are so many interesting shops featuring crafts not found in the department stores anywhere. Simple Sounds features all types of string instruments, specializing in mountain dulcimers and many unusual instruments. The many quilt and soft goods are so pretty and hard to resist. Also you must have a Jo-Jo soft pretzel for a treat- morning or afternoon.

I admit that I almost missed this as it is at the far end of the street and we were so busy with all of the smaller shops along the way. This was a fun place with several shops on each level. The speciality music store has some great items. Also loved the outdoor wear store on the bottom level, and who doesn't want one of those speciality swings with a table in the middle and its own private cover. The shops are small but worth browsing through.

This is a huge barn converted to 3 floors of shopswith clothing, quilts, musical instruments and gifts to name a few. The 3rd floor had food like pretzels and sandwiches.

Like all businesses in Shipshee, this one is open until 6 on Saturday night. This is a unique structure with some interesting stores, however, after going through all the floors some of the stores start looking like repeats of the last one you were in. The have a very unique music store on the main level, for music buffs. There is also store that sells the most amazing soft fabrics, I have never seen these anywhere else. It is worth a stop, just know the hours are limited.

This isn't your typical department or variety store. It different as well as usual merchandise. Some things are unique. Some you've likely seen before. It's the unique items that make this place special and worth a visit. Be sure to go to the lower level and read about the huge tree trunk that reaches all the way to the forth floor. It's quite interesting.

Our first stop on this trip was to Davis Mercantile. We have a toddler so we of course first went to the top floor to take a ride on the carousel. The man that was working was a very nice man and talked to our little one. He was very friendly even though she was acting shy. After that we made our way around the shops. The only downside to shopping here is that the place gets pretty crowded. It can be hard for a stroller or a wheel chair to navigate around the place. They do have an elevator at each end.

A really interesting place to spend a few hours browsing. Lots of neat shops with a wide variety of goods-from musical instruments to clothes to quilting supplies to candy. There's a very fun store that has retro everything, as well as a smattering of antiques.A large tree grows in the center of it. A very neat place. Also, like everywhere else in Shipshewana, the public bathrooms were immaculate, wihich is always appreciated.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Davis Mercantile. The carousel is cheap and fun! Kids and adults alike will enjoy a quick spin. The stores are very original, and as such, are on the more expensive side (notable stores include the candy shop and the music store). If you're like me though, it's fun to browse! Overall, a very clean, nicely-operated building.

If going to Shipshe, you need to stop here and experience ALL floors of unique items. My personal favorite is the music store. Several clothing stores and stores with specialty items are available. And, there are places to get food and pretzels.

Loved this large indoor shopping area with 4 floors of a variety of shops and restaurants. Beautiful wood work, with pictures throughout on how the building was constructed. My daughter enjoyed the Dentzel Carousel located on the third floor. We ate lunch at Millie's Market Cafe and was amazed at the quantity and quality of the homemade food, and great staff. My daughter left a newly purchased book, from the Red Wagon, at the table, and the waitress found us next door at Aunt Millie's Candy shop to return it! Thank YOU!The bathrooms in this facility were spotless!

This is the younger kids place to make a must see if visiting shipshewanna. Many shops for Mom and Dad to enjoy but on a hot day, this will be the kids fav stop. From Aunt Millies candy store (the neatest candy store with old fashion candy) to the indoor carousel. Pretzel shop and a fav place....the checker board rest place for the slightly older kids. So glad they reopened this area!

There are two parts to Davis Mercantile: shopping and amusement. This being an Amish tourist trap, it has many interesting Amish artifacts to look through as well as the regular tourist type shops. Our favorite store was the music store which had a much wider selection of music themed items than I've seen anyplace else. And you don't want to miss this carousel! While the base itself is a 1906 Dentzel carousel, the animals were all carved by local people. They're all farm animals, including pigs, sheep, roosters, dogs, and of course plenty of horses. One of the chariots is an Amish buggy, and the three horses in front of it look as if they're pulling it.
