I guess any first time visitor to Reading has to drive up the hill to see what the strange, lighted building is at the summit. That is just what I did and have since learned that the Pagoda is actually the place the local kids go to, well, get away from prying eyes. The structure is great, the views amazing, but you have to wade through beer bottles, trash and groups of teens climbing all over the place. My advice, go during the daylight..I'm sure you don't want to see what goes on up there at night!

Worth seeing once. Not much to do once you reach the Pagoda. Off season restroom access is nil. Nothing inside to see. On a clear day, it gives a nice view of the valley provided there is not alot of haze or pollution. No cost involved. No real attraction for the kids at this one.

This anachronistic structure high on a hill overlooking the city of Reading is a nice day trip. There is a limited menu "restaurant", but not bad at all. As you walk up flights of stairs, you get to see some interesting artifacts and images.

The pagoda is a really neat place to visit. You can see the entire city of reading from the top of the pagoda. I have visited this place numerous times!

for 66 years I have been looking at the Pagoda. It has seen some less attractive years but with all the improvements its worth a trip to explore and enjoy

Well my hometown sure has changed A LOT over the last 40+ years; not all for the best sadly. But, the Pagoda still takes me back to being a kid and visiting it and eating the shrimp chips. The facility still looks to be in great shape and kudos to the foundation that maintains this gem.A couple ways to get up and see it and well worth a bike ride too.

The Pagoda is beautiful from the valley in which the city of Reading, PA lays. The drive up Duryea Drive is steep & winding, and the arrival at the Pagoda grants a beautiful view. The interior of the Pagoda is nice but needs a little moe of something. It's a fun, leisurely, pretty experience and worth the $ & time.

The Pagoda has been a landmark in Reading for over 100 years. Right now there are limited opening hours - Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 pm. There is a $1 fee to go to the top. They use these funds to help with the maintenance of this landmark structure. There is a little snack bar in the entry where you can get cake, cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, hot dogs, candy sodas..all at a very reasonable price. Alot of people go jogging up the hills around the Pagoda - it's great excercise. I love the drive from city park to the Pagoda, the view at the top gives you a view of the entire city. It's equally as beautiful at night. When I was a kid growing up in Reading this area was a favorite gathering spot for teenagers at night..all in good fun !

This was our first time we visited some where else in Reading besides the VF outlets. It was a short drive to the Pagoda up a winding road almost to the top of the hill. It offers a great view of the city and for a $1.00 donation, you can climb the 87 steps to the top. You go through the cafe to get to the stairs.Speaking of the cafe, they have a very limited menu of Barbeque pork sandwich and hot dogs plus candy, soda etc. and it is the only tourist eatery that I know of where you can feed a family of 4 for lunch for about $20.00.The pork sandwich was $2.50...the most expensive item on the menu and the hot dogs, less then $2.00.Drive another short distance up the hill and you will come to a fire watch tower, where you can also climb to the top...this is probably the highest point in the area..If you happen to be in the area, I would recommend a visit to the Pagoda.

Our daughters college graduation party was most memorable for family and friends. It was so easy to rent and give directions. Inside bathrooms open during rental of room. Outside bathrooms open during public hours.

The Pagoda is the local landmark and visible from several points around town. It makes a great stop for visitors. The view from this location is fantastic and impressive. The structure is impressive and dramaticlly lit at night.

Until I visited Reading, PA, I didn't know this attraction existed. The history of how it came about was very interesting. It also provides breathtaking views of the area. Then to later see it lit up at night with its red lights makes the Pagoda extra special. No visit to Reading is complete without a visit to this site.

Driving back from Cape Cod on the way to Wilmington in Delaware we had a nights stop at Newburgh . The weather was excellent in the morning so we changed our route to stop off at the pagoda at Reading. Well worth a visit. Interesting story about a desire to build an unusual folly dating back to 1908. Free to get in but donate if you wish, splendid views, lots of info to read, and you also get a great drive out.
