traverse area district library

Love this library! Great views to the bay, during any season. I spend a lot of time in the music and movie section and I am pretty impressed with the wide variety of both. They have a beautiful upstairs facility as well equipped with computers for your use, however long you would like, and a great study area! Wheelchair accessible and they have elevators! They also have a lot of interesting events going on throughout the year, including a poetry contest.

beautiful building with large children's and young adult collection. Many movies to rent. Nice conference rooms to work in. There is a nice children's garden and community gardens in the summer. Very near the trail where you can walk by the Bordman River or to the filling station for pizza and beer.

We visit the library often to check out books and movies - great selection in a beautiful facility. A great place to hang out.

My wife usually picks up any books I can't find on line. She was headed there this last week. As I had the day off I thought I would her. My problem was not with the building. It is beautiful, well kept and quiet. My problem was with the lack of assistance. The computer system was down. I asked for assistance and to use the index. I was told the index was behind the desk with no invitation to come back to use it. When I told the lady what I was looking for she took me down to an isle that really had nothing to do with what I had asked for, told me it would possible be found there (it wasn't) and left. I searched for another half hour and finally gave up. If your computer is down, make the index easy to get to. If people are not welcome to use the index have people that are more willing to help. I think I will stay with on line, this was not a good experience.

Large library, comfortable furniture; and friendly staff make this library a good stop if you are in Traverse City.

Disclosure: I LOVE libraries. Lived in them in college and it is the first card I ever get when I move into a new town. THIS library is a destination. The streaming light coming in through the windows, the breadth of literature is phenomenal. Not to mention the music and film selection. Especially the film festival greats!A great testament to what a community values. Love it.

I was surprised at how nice their library is in TC. Great for just visiting even for out-of-towners. They do a farmers market out front too.

I haven't been in a non-academic library in years. On Friday, I had to get some work done and didn't want to work in a hotel room. I walked over to the TDL library and was pleasantly surprised. It has wonderful views, great physical plant, a large collection, a great digital collection, and was comfortable. I bought a coffee from their gift shop and set up my laptop with a wonderful view of the water, but on my earbuds, and worked away.

The library is in a beautiful building now on Boardman Lake. The Audio/Visual section has a nice selection of movies and music. The second floor has comfortable seating for reading, with big windows, making it warm and sunny no matter the season.

Theirs lots of books and a really nice view of the bordmin lake. If you go in the summer you can see lots of boats out on the lake sailing.

Modern, great selection of books, wonderful building and setting. A gem in TC! I mostly use the online site and just pick up my books when they're ready. Quite handy.

I am lucky enough to work almost next to the Woodmere branch. My husband an I love going to our library it has any and every type of book or music you could possibly want, along with a beautiful view of the park and lake. At lunch I love to walk behind the library on the path and just enjoy the incredible setting.

Located in a very easy in & out location on Woodmere. Tons of great books to read for all ages and types of books. Will check other libraries for you if they don't have what you're looking for at their location.

For a town the size of T.C., this place is a pleasant surprise. Comfortable surroundings and efficient staff makes it possible to linger and to search.
