durant park

A nice little historic park. Great for picnics or just strolling around to see the artifacts. There is a historic arch and a little playground as well as some nice garden areas.

OK, i love Durant Park. We call it PONCHO park. There is a little tree there that I named Poncho. I was around when they first planted him and used to go visit him, try to make sure he was growing well. He's turned into a person tree! He's the cutest tree ever, so now we call this little park PONCHO park. It's a small park, but lovely grounds and archway, and plenty of fun for kids.

Durant Park is named after the founder of General Motors Corporation, William C. Durant. This automobile giant donated the land to the city of Lansing for the park. In 1924 the arch was built to honor this man.
