My wife and I have been to at least 4 Mojo blues on Saturday nights over the past 2 years. I noticed that for 2014 they only have 1 scheduled for March so far. We have heard many very good guitarist's and some cool harmonica players. Early on they weren't charging very much...I think it was $10 and you got a ticket stub that gave more discounts on future visits to the Gateway Theater as well as $ off from Stone Soup Books. We took advantage of those $ off!

Wonderful place to come listen to music! I especially like the open mics on the 3rd Thursdays! Comfortable seating and lots of great entertainment for cheap!

MURDERLADY

Since the Gateway opened several years ago it just keeps getting better and better. No need to spend boring evenings at home watching reruns or mediocre TV shows. This is where to spend your weekends. Last night it was MoJo Blues Saturday night - and it was wonderful. On Friday night was River City Radio Hour - a local offering that brings together some of the best local talent for a show somewhat like that well known Saturday night Public Radio Show. With its own cast of characters - Waynesboro's own lady of laughs - Marsha Howard. Richard Adams and the Boogie Kings and then a cast of irregulars - boy can they be irregular but fun. Music, singing, occasional dancers (including belly) - I spend as many 3rd Friday's as possible at the Gateway and RCRH. Other nights you might see some really good magicians - new plays (sometimes free) - comedy - great jazz - talent nights - barbershop - gospel - children's programs. They have a calendar on the web, so you can check out what's coming next. All this is in preparation for the grand opening of the Wayne Theatre. Events at The Gateway are not typically for children but frequently there are special child friendly events.A recent letter to donors to the nonprofit WayneTheatre Alliance indicated that final restoration on the theatre should start by this fall with a 2014 grand opening possible. The Gateway has been and is the "proving ground" to find out what the public wants to see. If you haven't been recently - or ever - you really need to check this out. It's amazing to me all the local talent available and the regionally and national talent that is willing to come. Well worth the visit. You will find me there regularly,
