We visited the winery while in town on business. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. The place had many visitors the day we visited and there was a great atmosphere. We travel quite a bit on business and being that I truly enjoy Texas wines we try to visit whatever local wineries we can. This was a great place to hang out and visit, we enjoyed ourselves!
As noted in my caption, you don't go to Kerrville Hills Winery for its exterior appearance or view, but you shouldn't let that deter you from good wine and friendly hosts. The interior is comfortable, cozy, friendly, and warm, and the wine and personnel amplify the pleasant experience. They have several extremely nice varietals, and a choice of tasty and very reasonably priced snacks to pair them with. The staff are engaging and helpful. You feel welcome and relaxed the moment you enter, particularly as it is not a large establishment, but is very nicely arranged and conducive for conversation. Fredericksburg may have wineries that are more attractive, but for good wine and pleasant atmosphere, Kerrville Hills can match the best of them.
I came here with my family as we enjoy wine tasting, and this was one of the best we've been to. Not only were the wines universally delicious, but the atmosphere was really enjoyable too. The staff were super friendly and engaging, and everything was very relaxed. I thoroughly enjoyed the wine; they focus on the full range of a small number of varietals, and it really works well. I did not know that each individual variety of wine could have that many different tastes associated with it. We tried the cabernet sauvignons and merlots, and they were all delicious.
I was one of the first to sign up for their wine club and I have never regretted that! The wine is great and I am crazy about the owners and the people that work there. They are super friendly and make our visits feel like we are seeing old friends. I travel much of the time and dont get there as much as I would like to but my wine is always there for me to pick up when I can.
We recently moved to Kerrville and were pleasantly surprised to find the Kerrville Hills Winery close to us. The first time we visited the winery we had the opportunity to taste a variety of wines, meet the owners Wayne and Carol and get a tour. We enjoyed the wine so much that we became Wine Club members. Carol and Wayne along with Brenda always make your visit enjoyable. We have learned about the wines and the passion behind the winery. We have also attened one of thier monthly events and enjoyed great food, music and wine. If you live in or visit Kerrville you should take the time to visit this Winery you won't be disappointed.
The Kerrville Hills Winery really doesn’t look like much on the outside – a big tin building – BUT WAIT! Once you walk in, all else changes! This place is full of history and passion – it just exudes from every nook and cranny! The historical part comes from the history of the location – a 1950′s house burned down in 2004 and sat vacant for some time. Wayne & Carol Milberger, seeing the potential, bought the place, took down the burneddown house, kept the floors, the fireplace and other pieces of the property that they could use in the construction of their tasting room. The tasting room is quite spacious as is the tasting bar, with plenty of room to taste or kick back and relax. It just feels comfortable. They even have old pictures on the walls of the old house and the construction of the winery. Worth a gander! Now for the passion! From the owners, Wayne and Carol, to the tasting room manager, Brenda, to the host, Ryan…passion was the word of the day. It is quite the experience to get wrapped up in another person’s dream and to have almost as much invested emotionally simply through their story telling. We learned that they bought the place in 2007, have no vineyards but source their grapes from California and make the wine right here in their winery. In 2009, they produced about 2,2oo cases. And let us tell you, we REALLY enjoyed their wine. Yummmm! We highly recommend that you make this a stop on your trail through Texas. Drop in and tell Wayne & Carol that you heard about them at The Vineyard Trail and see if they remember us! I hope they do!Visited Dec 2013.
Mostly semi dry to dry. Husband liked the dry and they had a muscat and sangria for me. Moderately priced. Husband got free tasting and mine was free with purchase of 2 bottles
Can't say enough about this wonderful winery. We were part of a large group and even though they said we were their largest group so far, everything went smoothly. Very professionally run and managed. Brenda was very informative and friendly. Wayne, the owner, took the time to answer all our questions and personally led the tour. The tasting room was beautiful and the perfect way to experience the wines. Everyone loved the food pairings and they offer a good selection of wines. This is a first class run operation. Not to be missed. I highly recommend you give this winery a try. You will not be disappointed.
We stopped in at this lovely winery during our short weekend vacation in Kerrville. I have been to several wineries in Temecula, CA, yet this place takes the cake as far as atmosphere, tasting options, and friendliness. The entire staff was friendly, offered a lot of information about the wines as well as the surrounding area. They were not afraid to suggest other great wineries in the area as well. However, we spent so much time here that we never made it anywhere else. (4 hours to be exact!)I forget how many different wines they had, but they had several tasting options along with options to purchase a glass of wine instead of tasting. We didn't eat here, but did try some chocolates and olive oil (and purchased a delicious oil!)I highly suggest stopping by this lovely winery!
We stopped at several wineries in Texas Hill Country and this winery had the best wines by far. We loved the way the tasting room was decorated and thought Brenda was the best. She explained all of the wines to us and the owner also stopped by the tasting bar to talk to us. This was the best experience we had at any winery in Texas Hill country. The only negative I have to say is that we ended up buying a cab that cost almost $40.00 but they still did not give us a break on the tasting fee of $10.00 for each of us so we ended up spending over $60.00 and came away with only one bottle of wine.
Heard this was something new to do in Kerrville so decided to check it out. It is just north of I-10 and in a new, rustic-wooden building. The interior is bright and welcoming and you can easily see the large wall of brew tanks for the wine. It is immaculate. Tours are available, as are samples. The main part of the retail shop includes displays of wines, souvenir attire, glassware, and wine-related items. The staff is friendly and offers answers freely on the various brews. The wines are affordable and they do ship if you are flying.
