If you've never visited a natural well, it's worth a short trip out of your way. We initially walked right by the well. Once you see it, you'll be fascinated for a minute or two then the trip is pretty much over. It would probably be more fun for summertime swimmers who swim to the underground cave.

My daughter and I visited here early February - had to see this spot - the name is interesting in itself. We were not sure what was going on here - the back area was closed for restoration and gated and the other entrance was also gated and closed. I had come to Wimberley to see this spot and I was not to be deterred, so we parked nearby and walked around the gate and down to the "well". It was a very interesting spot, for sure and your imagination can take over as to how deep and what is down there. Being pretty chilly, we were not about to find this out, I prefer to leave that to my imagination, but it sure would be a great spot for swimming in the Texas heat of summer! Great History at this spot and we both loved this area!

It was a nice surprise to see this piece of Texas history. A short walk from the parking lot and down some steps you get to the top of the well. If that is too much use the lower ADA entrance to come in a on the same level. The pics and story posted here (http://visitwimberley.com/jacobswell/lBond/) gives a quick look into what is below.

I spent a few weeks in the New Braunfels area in Texas and many of the locals recommended checking out Jacobs Well. What once used to be a place that was only visited by locals has now become an attraction for people visiting the Wimberley area and for those in search of a beautiful swimming hole.I recommend using Google maps when trying to find the well as it isn't the easiest place to find and make sure you are wearing sneakers as some of the rocks are slippery. The walk down to the hold is very easy and it isn't a trip that will take up your entire day unless it is a hot summer day and your looking to swim for the afternoon. The well is also close enough to Wimberley so I recommend going there and doing a little shopping so grabbing a bite to eat and having a cold Texas beer once your done.

The beauty and mystery of Jacob's Well is what took my daughter and me on a road trip to Texas from Minnesota. After researching the area, we decide to visit many of the swimming holes in the area and end up on Padre Island. Jacob's Well isn't easy to find but definitely worth the search once you get to Wimberly. You can also find Blue Hole just a few miles away, although that is more commercialized. Wimberly is a beautiful little town with many restaurants and shops. The only drawback to the area is there are no tenting campgrounds in the area. We had to go about 20 minutes away to Canyon Lake to tent for the night.

Jacobs Well is absolutely amazing. It is only an hour drive from Austin Texas. The water is unnaturally cold, but don't let that put you off as the Texas heat is scorching hot and diving into the cold water cools you down nicely. Just swimming in this amazing well was a terrifying yet amazing experience at the same time- you can't see where it ends! http://thetraveldiaries.wix.com/thetraveldiaries

This was such a great pit stop to make, especially during a HOT Texas summer. The water is well fed, so it stays nice and cold. Watch out though, because the rocks are limestone and VERY slippery with a algae build-up. It's safe though, and people even had small children and pets. The jump off point is pretty scary and it's safe to say that you jump at your own risk. Fun place to chill and relax, though! AND FREE! :D

I found this natural spring to be an amazing experience. It was mysterious yet amazing in its own way. At first I found it to be a tad bit intimidating just by looking down into the deep unkowness from the rocks above, but I finally gained the courage and took the leap into the unknown. What an awsome adventure it was! It was during the summer that we went and the water water pretty cool but a great attraction. I would totally recommend people to see this place it is beautiful and exquisite.

Loved this place.Wish I could have taken a dip as the water looked so inviting and the day was warm at 24 degrees on the Thanksgiving weekend. Quiet location but would expect it to be busy over the summer time. The walk takes about 8 mins from the car park, highly recommend to see a stunning natural watering hole.

This place is a lot smaller than expected. We were here in August, mid week and there were about 15 people. I hear it can get a lot more crowded than that. Most people climb a few rocks (which was not there naturally - they were stacked there on purpose) to jump off the top in an area of water with a "hole" in it. The area is beautiful and water very clear and cold. There's a short hike to the spot from the parking lot. After being there once I probably would not go back.I would not take very young children.

We hiked to the well with our two toddlers and had a blast. They didn't understand the cool well but it was still fun. Would have been disappointed if we came to swim because its not as big as it looks in photos. Still really cool to see and the park was kept clean.

This is a very interesting phenomena. Unique, mysterious and in a scenic area of the hill country. Worth the drive, but be careful of the deer alongside the roadway.

Jacob's Well is definitely a must see if you are visiting Wimberley. It's absolutely amazing to look at and on a hot summer day, a great place to hop in the water. The water is crystal clear and is always around 70 degrees. The area surrounding the well is small and gets overcrowded if you get there too late in the day. We arrived early in the morning and had the place all to ourselves for at least an hour. Even if you don't plan on getting in the water, go take a look, it's free.

On a drizzly day in November it was peaceful, beautiful, and full of wildlife. It is still closed to swimming until spring 2015, but a nice easy hike with a beautiful spring at the end!

Very pretty natural "well". It was closed for swimming, but I was just there to take pictures. Not many people there so I got really good pics of the water, (and not of people that I don't know). Water is very clear and the surrounding area is wooded and pretty. The rocks are very slick so be careful walking down to the water. The gentleman overlooking the well that day said that in the summer there are about 1000 people swimming in that area. It is not very big so I would not want to visit or try to swim there during that time. It is a short walk from the parking lot so if you are near the area drive out and see it.
