My girlfriends thought we would run by and see the Museum on a recent visit, we were pleasantly surprised to find much more. Our "quick" stop lasted about an hour and a half. We could have spent even more time if our schedule would have allowed. Really enjoyed the local history and the multiple building that told that story. Well done!

Our second trip to Cloudcroft, but first time to visit the Museum. From the road, it doesn't look like much, but once on the grounds, it is amazing. They really have a lot of artifacts from early NM pioneer days, as well as some very interesting collections of military memorabilia, ladies fashions from the early 1900's, and some very cool (to me) old machines from water pumps, to fire trucks. The admission is super cheap, and depending on how much of a history buff you are, expect to spend at least 1 to 1.5 hours going through the place.

We had a lovely time at the museum... a little bar b que, wonderful music, and tour thru the museum. Definitely recommend a visit, so historical to the village of Cloudcroft!

The museum is a nice addition to the village and really lets you know about the history of the area. It is definitely worth the time to stop in.

Really enjoyed new and added sights; love seeing the pictures and getting to go into the caboose and school.

My wife and our 4 daughters stopped in here while staying in a nearby house for a week. Though clearly a small town operation on a limited budget it was a surprisingly well done and expansive view of the history of Cloudcroft and the turn of the century old West. Frankly the fact that it was a low budget operation made it all the more intimate. We were eligible for a military discount but did not take it; we preferred to not claim it and thus make an extra 'donation' to help their operations. So it was $26 for the 6 of us. They had clean restrooms and a very modest gift shop..

A visit to Cloudcroft and environs should include the Sacramento Mountains Museum. Interesting collection and knowledgeable docents.

This is a charming small museum. The grounds were beautiful with lots of exhibits. A wonderful place to take the kids to gain a historical retrospect and appreciation of how people lived back in the old days. From what we gained, living in the Sacramento Mountains was challenging, but we could see how it shaped this village's character. Check it out! There are numerous artifacts from the 1800's to the 1950's, including old military uniforms, an old fire truck, caboose, and Mescalero Apache artifacts. Well worth a stop!

Want to get cool and laugh? We went to Cloudcroft and attended the melodrama with the Cloudcroft Light Opera Company (CLOC). Nothing is more fun than booing the villan and cheering the hero with a temperature in the high 60's. There were great puns and double entendres. It was their last performance of the season. We can hardly wait until next spring. In the meantime, we enjoyed the food at the Mountain Top Mercantile and took home an absolutely irresistable, mouth watering, strawberry-rhubarb pie. The choice was difficult, the competition tempting our tastebuds with cherry and apple pies, among other baked breads and pastries. If you're in the area, there are some yummy calories waiting and, come next spring, more melodrama delights. If you're not in Cloudcroft, what are you waiting for?

This is a great place and its fun to look at all the old cabins. One of the cabins used to be my Three Bears Cabin when I was little. A great place to see how people lived in the past.

Anything you'd want to know about the railroads and settlers in this area of New Mexico is at this museum. The volunteer staff is very knowledgable.

This little mountain community, Cloudcroft, has put together an impressive collection of old cabins and buildings from the pioneer era. The museum is small but interesting. It's the walk from building to building all under the aspen trees, that gives you a real feel for early life in the mountain west.
