The owner passed on the heir to the pecan mill and the store decided the store was not financially viable and closed the store. It had been a regular stop on highway 28 for years and we always looked toward to buying pecans, tins of pecans and getting a scoop of pecan ice cream.

Tragically, this fine stop is now closed. When open, though, it was a major attraction to the area. Indeed, the pecan trees formed an arch over NM28, a delight by both motorcar and bicycle. In fact, NM28 South of Stahmanns is some of the WORST pedaling I've ever known anywhere on planet Earth; but North is some of the best, and remain true today.

Unfortunately for the Stahmann family due to the economic times they had to close all their retail and catalog business

We had been driving through a beautiful, old grove of pecan trees on Hwy, 28 on our way to Old Mesilla when we noticed a processing plant. We kept looking and, sure enough, there was a store selling pecan products directly to the public. The store is spacious and clean, the employees are friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection is beyond compare. We sampled a lot, and everything seemed to get better and better. What most impressed me about this store is the fact that almost everything they sell, they make themselves right there on-site. So often, these stores can become little more than gift shops or corner groceries. This place is all about the highest quality pecans, and wonderful products that can be made from them. It is beautiful on the grove property. We were there in Winter. I can only imagine how pretty it is in Summer or Fall.
