We went here on an impromptu visit after the waitress at Marisco's told us about it. The drive is outisde of Taos a few miles after passing the airport heading West. Drive slow because there are visitors everywhere. I recommend if you have about 45 minutes to stop by just to see the view. There is a rest area with picnic tables nearby.

The bridge was having maintenance done when I drove across it so we did not get the kind of views we would have otherwise. We did go down into the gorge not too far away and the views were stunning.

I'm a hiker so I love good trails. The West Rim trail that starts just after the Gorge Bridge in Taos County is fantastic. It has everything, views, easy walking for strolling, native and other venders at the other side of the bridge, even a "hippie" mobile coffee and ice cream bus that provides great coffee other other things in the spring and summer. I love hikes on this rim because frequently, I run into sizable herds of Big Horn sheep along the way. Their magnificence and grace are amazing to watch. Take a camera because your phone will only see dots on the other side. If you like, the trail goes all the way to Pilar which gives you a full days hike. The trail is pretty flat so doable for those "in not great shape". I highly recommend this hike. Also, don't forget to go the middle of the bridge. Beware if you are afraid of heights! :-)

Worth visiting. Very awe inspiring. Dress warm if in the winter. Sunset is a great time to take in the view. There are always venders there if you want to purchase a souvenir.

You can easily find a spot to park and then walk across the bridge. You'll meet some friendly vendors along the way, selling jewelry and other miscellaneous goods. It was windy when we were there, but still worth the stop. We watched several kayakers making their way through the rapids directly below the bridge. It's amazing to see the power that water has on the earth.

Take a look into the valley from any high point around the rim and you see the giant rift in the earth created by the river. Drive to the bridge and get a closer look at the river's work. The bridge also won architectural awards 50 years ago.

Nice place to take a scenic photo, although we didn't spend any time there other than that. We actually stopped here on the way to the Earth Spaceship attraction (interesting in itself too!).

There is quite the view from the bridge. You have to walk out on it to appreciate the height. Even in February it was beautiful. There were a bunch of vendors on the side of the road, so you can find something fun to take home or something to eat while you are there.

Quite the place. A 660 foot drop to the bottom to The Rio Grande. Stand in the middle of the bridge and look over the side.

There isn't much infrastructure on the bridge itself, but there is a nice state park on the SW side fo the bridge where you can park. THe bridge itself is scary to walk on, but clearly stable. the view of the gorge from the bridge is awesome. absolutely worth the short drive from taos to see.

This is a must stop if you go to Taos. It gives you a sense of the entire Taos valley-mountains above, wide-open mesas all around and the Rio Grande River 600 feet below yours!

A very nice, picturesque drive out of Taos on U.S.64 took us to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. There was a bit of a crowd out there and there were some souvenir and food trucks across from the viewing park. The best view is from the view itself but along the fence line in the park are some very good views of the bridge. It's about an hour side trip and I thought it was worth the effort. A note - the park was muddy and this was some of the dangdest mud I've ever encountered and I have the red kind here in Georgia. Really tough to clean off shoes! Just a heads up.

We arrived late in the afternoon and took a million pictures as the sky and gorge changed colors. The view was fabulous. Also the drive out from Taos was lovely, too.

It is the 7th highest bridge in the US and is on the US National Register of historic Places. Just a nice bridge to walk on and see the scenery.

I loved roadside merchants. We don't have roadside merchants leading to the Brooklyn Bridge.Beware of the NM drivers, they rarely signal and are probably uninsured.
