The hotel is quirky and individual, no corporate blandness here. But what you should be going for is the hot spring, it's just a cave, Brilliant! and hot. If it is snowing outside combine a visit to the cave with a roll in the snow by the outdoor pool. You have to walk past reception in your swimming costume, delightfully eccentric.

The contrast of cold weather out and warm (hot) water in was stimulating and relaxing both! This spa features nice dressing rooms, showers, towels, staff and location. An interesting feature was a cave on the site with a hot spring where history of Chief Ouray coming and the ceremony he conducted there.

Great hot springs and loved the vapor cave. We did not stay in the hotel but wished we did. Ouray is a great place to visit too.

I put this review originally under the hotel not knowing their was a spot for the spa.We did not stay here, but we went here for massages and to use the vapor caves.Ofcourse we thought about staying here but decided to go with a different hotel, but while we were here of course we checked everything out.The front pool is literally in the front so everyone driving up sees you hanging out in the pool, the staff was nice and the place was clean, but so very dated and the front lady would just disappear and we had to wait a little for her to come back. The hotel is really close to elevation spa which is amazing and close to the brew pub, but that is really the only positives. The area where you wait for a massage was so hot and swampy and just so dated. Then the massage my husband and I received was one of the worse ever. The gentleman was rather creepy and very insistent. I specifically told him I only want my back and legs massaged and he basically told my husband and I he only does full body. I really don't like my head massaged let alone my stomach and when i don't him no i really was not into it he basically forced me to just "give it a try". I have never had a more horrible and uncomfortable massage ever. The caves are really neat, just small and these ones were especially hot. This place was also super quite, I would not recommend for families. There website makes this look so trendy, romantic, and very fun if your looking for a spa/soaking weekend.... the hotel is really the opposite, outdated and mom and pop like.Would not recommend staying here nor using their services.

We went to Wiesbaden for the hot springs in a "cave" which really looked very artifical when we got there. It looked more like someone's basement. We made the most of our $15 (which gave us a 3-hour stay) by going in and out of the hot springs then upstairs to the outdoor pool to enjoy the view of the mountains. I wish the people who worked there took the time to give us a tour because it was really confusing to find the caves which was behind some random door at the end of the showers. We actually had to show a couple of people where it was. Also, it would be nice if someone actually enforced people taking showers before entering the springs because half of the people we saw definitely did not wash up.

We did not stay at the property although it's very cute in a 70's kind a way. It's the best $15 spent in Ouray for a 3 hour experience. There is a swimming pool outdoors that is quiet and lovely fed by the hot springs, but the real experience is below ground in what was once Chief Ouray's ritual cave. The chief lived just above the location of the motel up against the mountain where he had a hunting camp. The cave itself is very sacred and you can feel the vibe as soon as you cross through the second wooden door ( think of the cave in The Hobbit). Here is a tip on how to enjoy your 3 hours. First take a cold shower in one of the changing areas and then enter the first door of the cave entrance. There is a large chamber where cool springs pour down the rocks. You can stand up against them or there is an old shower head that also disperses water over you. Next, go through the inner chamber door and you will face the vapor chamber with shallow wading water (a little warmer). Once your eyes and body adjusts pass through to the hot springs chamber and hotter vapor area. The water is quite hot and you can sit near the hose that dispenses cooler water. On occasion , it feels wonderful to drip this over your head and body. Finally when you feel like you are going to pass out, go back out to the outer chamber where the cool springs tumble down the huge rock formation . Cool down there then grab a cool drink of water with ice and go back above ground and lounge in and around the outdoor pool. Repeat and rotate for the next few hours. You will sleep like a baby afterwards. The lithium in the water will relax you for days.

The hot springs and vapor cave at Wiesbaden Spa was absolutely heavenly. The outdoor pool is a constant feed mineral hot spring and completely relaxing at around 102 degrees. The resort provides noodles to float on and very comfortable chairs around the perimeter of the pool. The vapor cave is an awesome experience, a hot 18" pool at 108 degrees with ledges to sit or lie on. The cave is a natural sauna and takes your breath away. Switching between the vapor cave and the pool during the allotted 3 hour time period for $15 per person was soothing to our souls. There is free water and ice available, showers and changing rooms. For a personal quiet experience, this is the mineral hot springs to visit in Ouray Colorado.

Wow! Have never been in a vapor cave, and what an experience! Again, going in winter ensured that we had the room to ourselves. It is a shallow, very hot, very humid cave, that at first made me feel like I couldn't breathe. Once we got used to the feeling, it was very relaxing to sit and enjoy. You could feel the muscles relaxing. After we were done there, we went and jumped into the outdoor, hot spring pool. It was snowing, so a neat experience to sit in warm water, watching the flakes fall. Will definitely return!

Don't go her if you want to get lectured on smoking. Thought spas were suppose to be relaxing. The lady at the desk..Owner...denied us because we had smoked a cigarette in the past 3 months..hmmm..said someone had anaphylaxis because they smoked. So we went to Orvis Hot Springs where they had a smoking section. No one had any issues..just saying.

The pool isn't bad either, but the hot water and air of the Vapor Cave is just what winter needs to be put in her place.Every time we come, we talk about staying the weekend, but we just don't seem to find the time. The bargain about staying there is that the cost of the hot spring spa is included in the room rate. The privacy is much better here than at the public pool downtown. Very relaxing.....

It is worth the extra couple dollars to use this Hot Springs, especially beautiful in late September on a nice evening with snow capped mountains

This was our 2nd visit in 10 years. This visit was lacking in a welcoming feeling. The front desk lady seemed more intent on telling us the rules than making us feel welcome. The room was small, clean and fairly new remodeling of the bathroom which worked well. There was a 12" TV with about 5 channels including CNN but no Fox News!. The bed (full) was not comfortable. The walls afford little privacy. We could hear people talking in the next room. The outdoor pool was warm but the sides were slimy at the waterline. The vapor cave area seemed unclean and uncomfortable. The area needs to be cleaned. We are unlikely to return again. It is sad and so disappointing because this place has such grand potential.Oh, no thanks to the gentleman at the pool who had his cell phone on loud ring and waited a long time to answer each of the many calls he received. UGH!

I love their vapor cave and simple facilities they offer. The service is great when She, this great employee lady, is there to welcome you. Otherwise be ready for a cold welcome. And just don't call for a reservation, we tried to stay there twice in two years (we are locals), but both times we were asked to call back, first time no body answered, the second time we read the lodging review and went somewhere else!

I really enjoyed the vapor cave. The water was quite hot for soaking, the ambiance dark and mysterious. The building could use some renovation, though, particularly the maze-like basent cave level. I felt a bit like I was imposing on the staff simply by checking in and handing them my money. I left in a state of total peaceful bliss, regardless.

I went to the hotel specifically to try the Vapor Cave as it sounded like such a fun and different thing to do. We did not stay at the hotel but just went in the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed the vapor cave, but I will say that if you don't really enjoy hot water, it would not be a very nice experience. It was especially nice when there were not other people in the cave with us or the other people were talking softly as it is a fairly small area. The nice thing is that they have a hose with ice cold water in the cave so when we got hot, we just grabbed the hose and ran the water over our heads or arms. That was refreshing and allowed us to stay longer. The waters are supposed to be very healthy. I would recommend being careful to drink lots of water while you are there and when you leave. They have cups and a large container of water before you go into the cave. After we were hot, we went outside to enjoy the hot springs fed swimming pool. It was also very warm but with the cooler night air, it felt great. Here again they had a hose with cold water that you could use to help cool down when you got hot. This is something I would recommend trying once as it is such a unique experience, as long as you don't mind a hot tub like experience. If you don't like hot tubs, you probably won't enjoy this. I can see how it would be especially fabulous in the winter.
