I want to recommend this salon to anyone traveling through the Capital Region. The selling point is that they accommodate many price points and also offer spa services. I have been going to a stylist named Ruthie and have always received exceptional quality and service. So if you're in need of some sprucing up as you are traveling through don't hesitate to try this salon!

Just a word for weary travelers needing a great spa experience...Rumors is a salon that is reliable. The most important point is the flexibility they offer. You can find your price point there and choose from a variety of services. I've received wonderful hair and spa services and highly recommend this establishment.

I would HIGHLY recommend Rumors Salon. There are many highly qualified stylists to choose from as well as a variety of price points to suit your budget. Marri and Lisa offer a top-notch salon/spa experience, in a gorgeous new facility. I have been a satisfied customer for years, and always have people asking where I get my hair cut. Of course, my answer is always Rumors and my great stylist Ruthie!!

Like many of us in the area, I watched the building of the new Rumors day spa and was excited to see the final product. I have tried the restaurant (TALA) that is incorporated in the building several times and loved it! So I decided to give the spa a try…what a disappointment! First, let me say that my disappointment had NOTHING to do with the quality of the massage itself…the masseuse was very competent and very professional. The problem is with the design of the building and particularly the massage rooms. I scheduled a 60 min massage during the afternoon (thinking there's got to be some ambient noise from TALA and I would hit the sweet spot between the lunch and dinner rush). After getting into my robe, I reclined in the women's lounge. It was decorated in a soothing neutral color palette, but was very very small. I was the only one in there, but I could imagine that it would be uncomfortably close if there were one or two others waiting. I was also struck by the fact that I could still hear the roar of conversation/activity from TALA (even at an off time) It was rather intrusive for an area that is supposed to get you into a relaxed "massagey" mindset. Odd, but certainly didn't ruin the pre-massage experience. That happened once I was shown to the actual massage room. There are two massage rooms that are connected to each other by an interior door and draped with curtains. The result is that you can hear EVERYTHING that is going on in the next room! Not a problem if you have a quiet neighbor…but I had a talker next door... I mean the whole time and a loud talker at that!! I mentioned it to the masseuse several times and she was apologetic, saying the massage next door should be finishing up soon. I laid there seething…coming close to springing up from the table, throwing on my robe, and going next door to ask them to quiet down! Just as I reached my breaking point, they finished…but it didn't end there! Turns out that every time the exterior door of the next room is opened/closed it changes the air pressure of the room and the interior doors that connect the two rooms suck and rattle in response. So, we had a rattle when the masseuse left, one when the client left, and several as the masseuse was cleaning and making up the room again. Did I mention that the interior door is a couple feet away from your head and you can also hear the exterior door slamming loud and clear?? A massage that is punctuated by the client hissing…"this is ridiculous!" is not a good massage. I felt terrible for the masseuse and said as much. By the way, the massage rooms are also located in the front of the spa, closer to the TALA noise, which you could still hear. I asked the masseuse why they are not further back and away from the noise and she explained all the other rooms are set up for facials. REALLY!?! Basically, this means that no matter how good the masseuse is at this spa, the experience is very likely to be less than serene. Finally, I shared my experience with the manager on my way out and was told that she heard this complaint before, was trying to rectify it, apologized and gave me 20% off. Not enough of a gesture for me to try it again…fool me once. For the record, I tipped the masseuse 20% on the full amount of the massage…the poor thing has it hard enough!!!
