My husband and I always stop at this store when we visit Maine. It's a huge store with mostly sporting goods, but also has some things for women to look at. I like their bargain cave because you can find some great things that are hugely discounted. I also enjoy their store department and home department.

Keeping it short: this place is awesome. Walking around this store is worth the trip even if you don't buy anything.

Short drive from Wells 20 minutes via 95. My husband always find must buy items in hunting and fishing departments. Beautiful store. They have a Man Cave bargain room.

Where else can you got for outdoor supplies, clothing, shoes etc....almost everything but groceries....I could spend hours here and I almost always do....it's one of the highlights of my New England trip.Staff are super helpful and won't give up until you are happy. Customer service is amazing.I always have a great visit here. Cabela's staff are awesome!

We always stop with the family. The taxidermy collection and huge fish tank are a great hit with the children. There is also a small shooting gallery the kids love. If you need any ammo it is a good stop. I have found some hard to find .22 the last 2 times we have visited.

Our annual spring get-a-way is from Rhode Island up to the great State of Maine for 3-4 days of rest and relaxation during school vacation. This trip would not be complete without a stop at Cabela's in Scarborough, Maine. You could spend hours in this store looking at the camping, fishing, and outdoor equipment, and interacting with the Cabela's staff. The real treasure is the gun room which has over a hundred "high end" guns for sale. It's like a museum, like going back in history to the guns used for hunting back in the 1920's. We love Cabela's, and would not drive by the exit on the highway without making our annual trek through the store. Well worth the time if your in the Scarborough area.

I've always been a long time member and fan of Cabelas. This was the first time I was able to see one from the inside. Very impressive. Some very nice displays and aquarium. Good selection of items but not as much as the catalog, but you get to handle these items.

My friends that we were traveling with wanted to stop there on the way home...we are not hunters, but were impressed with the store.

I stopped here with friends and family, with a 2 and 13 year old, a couple hunters and some non-hunters. We ended up staying for about an hour and half, and the stop was enjoyed by all. Great displays of wildlife with museum like quality. Everything from moose, deer, sheep, to lions, zebras, gazelles and many mounted fish like tuna, marlin etc. There is a fresh water fish tank as well. The employees were all very nice, at one point as we took a picture by a large moose, an employee came over and let us go inside the display. If you are in the area it is worth a visit.

If you've never been inside a Cabela's before, you're in for a surprise. That's why I got TripAdvisor to list it as an attraction in Scarborough. Yes, it is a big store, focusing on outdoor sports. But here's what else it has: a large display of taxidermied wildlife, including very large mammals; a huge fresh water aquarium with native fish; a laser shooting gallery; and a cafe. The latter two do cost money, but the nature displays are a great free entertainment for all ages. A fun place to go to in Maine if the weather is keeping you from doing other things. I am not a hunter and am against guns, but it's interesting to see the (stuffed) animals up close, and even to shoot the toy laser guns at inanimate objects.
