For anyone visiting this area it is well worth your time to stop in at this place to learn a lot about the area its history and things to see and do in the area. They have all kinds of exhibits and literature on the local area

I think the staff is quite helpful here, both at explaining the artifacts from the Matanuska Valley Colony and Native Alaskans as well as suggesting things to do while in the area. The restrooms are clean and they have complimentary coffee and hot water (donations appreciated). The bonus is the garden out back; it is amazing to see how big the flowers and vegetables get by the end of the season--a great place for photos!

I always take visitors here for and excellent historic overview of the Matanuska-Valley. They have a large selection of artifacts to see and learn about. It is thoughtfully laid out and the flowers in summer a beautiful. Be sure to stop in the fall to see the giant cabbages.

If your from out of town and want to ask some questions, they are very informative there and can answer your questions. Theres not to much to look at. They use to have so much more there. I remember going downstairs when I was younger.

Information isn't the only thing available here. You can see great photos of our area, buy Alaska items, get maps, and talk to their friendly staff. It is also right in the center of Palmer with the library across the street and the shopping district across the railroad tracks.

Little museum with quite a lot of items to tell the history. The staff of the museum and the visitor center are really great. They share very useful information. You are helped with a smile.Don't forget to go and have a look at the garden next door. Really nice to stroll between the beautiful flower beds and the super vegetables.

Stop here when you get to Palmer to gather information before you sigtsee. Still located in a log cabin, the interior gives a background on the original Colonists. There's a great garden featuring flowers, vegetables, trees, and shrubbery. The staff is helpful and friendly.

As all the information centers in Alaska the Palmer Information center has a ton of info on things to do. Neat little information display inside about historical life in Alaska. But the gardens out back really stand out. Nothing compares to Alaska flowers!!

If you just arrived at Anchorage on that day, and were in a hurry to get out there into the real Alaska, drive the less than one hour to Palmer and stop at the visitor center for advice, consulting and getting all the maps and brochures you'll need. We stopped there twice (3 days in between), and the staff was very helpful and resourceful in explaining the various options and alternatives. Don't miss visiting their outdoor garden with its amazing flowers and vegetables.

This is a must stop for anyone passing through Palmer. Learn the history of the farm families relocated there from the Lower 48 during the Depression.

Palmer is small, and the visitor center really serves a purpose. The Mat-Su Valley has many interesting events and activities.Have stayed in Palmer for B & B in the past, and Palmer has the view and feel of a small Alaskan town.

As always a joy to visit. Currently has a display from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. We also enjoyed all the beautiful flowers currently in bloom.

Whether or not you need brochures and recommendations, the better part of this centre is to stop and see the vegetables and flowers/shrubs that are growing on the grounds of the centre. Rhubarb and cabbage that grow due to magnificent sizes, are best to stop and see if you won't make it to the State Fair in August. This will give you a glimpse into the great vegetables that grow in our extended daylight.
