I went snowshoeing in this park, traipsing through the pristine woods, over snow covered fields, looking down from the bluff overlooking the Merrimac River. In the summer there are concerts and a sculpture show. What a gem. Free parking is across the street and there was a bathroom there.

Great place to go almost any time of the year. Early spring when the Rhododendrons bloom along the river is the best but it's always a great place to explore.

Great place for a hike! Great views! Love the unique glance at the history of the area. Beautiful in all seasons.

Our new years day stop included a stop at Maudslay State Park. Made us feel like we were kicking our year off on good note with long walk outdoors - in the cold. Great views. Nice paths. Bundle up in winter, the cold wind can grab you. Many people brought their dogs. Horse trails are here. Part of it is closed in the winter due to bald eagles. Wish the mansion was still here, what a setting.

We occasionally drive up to Newburyport with our dog to hike the relatively flat and varied trails at Maudslay. Parking, for a small fee, is plentiful at the lot across from the parklands. There is also a clean restroom at the rear of the lot. All in all, a pretty easygoing spot to stretch the legs -- all four of them :-)

This is such a great walking park all four seasons of the month. Spring and summer you can experience the wonderful flowering gardens. In the fall the foliage is stunning and the winter it is fun for all those winter sports.A great place to take your dogs for a nice walk and meet others as well. There is also a variety of entertainment for young and old in the summer months. I love to go year round for photography.

Yes, the restrooms are very nice. And there is ample parking and even a picnic table, I think. But the real reason to visit Maudslay State Park is for the views and the flora and fauna. We watched a deer and a red-bellied woodpecker during our short walk there. And the views out over the Merrimac river are absolutely lovely--it is easy to imagine stepping out the front door of one of the houses that once stood there and gazing out through the morning mist over the river....Very nicely maintained trails, more like carriage paths!

A walk in the park is lovely. Different in each season. Incredible flora and fauna. The interpretive walks with a ranger are great fun and incredibly informative. Check them out.

Great trails and views of the river. Beautiful park. Trails aren't marked but you can find your way around.

We were visiting family in town for Thanksgiving and attended the annual turkey trot. The trail run was snowy and a little tough to maneuver but it was a lot of fun. People were very friendly and it is a beautiful park with well-marked trails.

This is a great park to visit, a wonderful getaway for part of a day if you live in the city, or a relaxing walk (bring your dog) if you live in the area. It's close enough to downtown Newburyport that you can have brunch/lunch/dinner at a local restaurant. Trails are wide and clear in most areas, but there are some narrow, off the path choices as well. Make your way down to the Merrimac River in one direction for some beautiful views, and come back to the main field by a different path for variety. Beware of equestrians and runners as you go, for this is a popular spot for riders and runners too. You do have to pay for parking (the only detraction) unless you can find a secret spot nearby. There are restrooms at the main parking lot. Come to the park at different times of year to appreciate its splendor fully.

Nice trails ... Great flowers in the spring/summer. The summner jazz concerts are a hidden gem. Wonderful peaceful spot.

We visited on a nice October Monday. The car park is spacious with an automated State Park fee station ($2 per day). The clean restroom facilities are in a well kept building in the corner of the parking area. Across the road in the visitors center located in an older home that is in keeping with the vintage estate atmosphere. A large park map showing all trails is located in a corner of the parking area also. The wide open acreage is kept mowed so that the rolling terrain seems as if it is still part of a working farm/estate. The walking trails run through both open spaces and through wooded areas lined with 8 - 10 feet high rhododendrons that must be absolutely beautiful in May or early June. We followed a trail across an open field that eventually led us through the wooded area (unusually large trees with massive trunks) and uphill until we came to the spectacular vista of the river. The trails lead past the location of the former estate house with the formal gardens. The gardens are being kept in an attractive (but not pristine) manner. We live in the area and had never visited but we will definitely be returning a few times throughout the year to take advantage of the seasons. Several picnic tables throughout the park.

This is a very special place for walkers and riders. We enjoy loading the horses up and heading over for a 2 hour ride on the trails at Maudslay.

Great for a walk, picnic, bike ride,etc...Nicely landscaped and mowed grounds with plenty of space for all manner of outdoor activity. There are even places where horseback riding is allowed. Recommended !
