Rollins Lake is beautiful. Camping is very nice. The only draw back is the lake is chilly & I wish it was bigger.

We had a great day of fishing. We arrived around 5:30 and headed to the back of of the lake. We threw spooks and buzz bait's for the first hour. There wasn't a lot of action, until I switched to a brown jig. I also did well on a Robot worm around 15ft. Hit points and fish slow the action was not a reaction bite. Good luck.

I haven't been to this lake in forever and here is why. I was swimming in it one day in it's seemingly pristine waters when I ran across head to head a very large piece of human waste. Haven't been able to go back since as they idea that people are that filthy keeps me away from its still waters. The river however has me captivated with it's ability to wash things downstream. Also the road is still horrible I hear on the swimming area of Upper Lake. When is some of that parking money going to go on fixing that surface to be safe for travel.

My sthuper gay boyfriend and I enjoyed the scenic views and lagunitas beer served on the Amtrak Train from San Francisco to Colfax (only $38 each way btw), where we met other gay friends and headed to Rollins Lake! We spent an amazing day waterskiing and tossing small children off the lake docks waterslide (so fun). At night the festivities around the campfires were enough to make any circuit fag jealous: s'mores, singalongs, and sexy redneck str8s partied harder than we did (as if that was possible!?!)... And everyone was really friendly around the bathroom area too... I'd recommend this party lake any time of year! So beautiful and fun and friendly... Yes even gay friendly: we are not the butchest of guys and we still had a blast camping! Yay go gay!!!

Staff is really unfriendly. its a burden to them if you ask for anything.. All the sights need to be leveled off. Bathrooms need updates. water is always cold Summer boat pass was a total ripoff. Needs a lot of upgrading

I have always stayed on the Green Horn side of Rollings lake, I love how they have a store that sells pretty much anything you need for your stay (food, beer/wine, clothes, water toys etc.) My annoyance with this place is the entrance, I have been here at least 5+ times and getting through the gate is always a pain in the A$$!!! The last time I went to check in, I gave my friends name who the site was under and told them I would only be there for the night, after I already had to wait in line 15 min to even talk to some one they said I would need to turn around and get BACK into line so that they could take my information and let me know what campsite number it was. Its always the 3rd degree to check in, its a damn camp site I don't know why they have such sticklers AND take so long to even figure anything out.

Rollins lake is a great place for camping and family time. There are stores for convenience and the staff at Orchard Springs is great. Disregard comments about drug use, vommiting, and other nonsense. You will always have other campers who choose to break rules and be rowdy. The staff at OS ensures to only keep people there who decide to respect the rules. We camp there all the time and enjoy every minute of it. Highly recommend!

We take our Jet Ski and boat there in the summer time....They have a great little beach and launch ramp...and the most beautiful scenery around! Great place to camp too.

We used to come here when I was young and we loved it. But coming back with my own kids was a nightmare. People gets drunk and confrontational, no rules, 10 pm quiet nite never happens. This place is full of trashy people. People party until morning, we asked the management a couple of times to intervene but couldnt control the crowd. we were kept awake by loud drunk people until 2am. NOT A PLACE FOR KIDS! It's a shame, we will never go back again.

A fun recreational lake located off Hwy 174 between Colfax and Grass Valley, and if enjoy fishing it offers some fine bass and brown trout fishing. A fun place to go and have fun.

Not a lot of trees and the campsites are right next to each other. Fishing is not good because of the lake's popularity with locals (it's the closest fishing lake they have).

Not known for quality Family Camping. But, you can count on the lake being Full in a normal year of rainfall/snow pack. Facilities are OK, but showing wear (dock at Long Ravine needs serious work. If you know how to fish this lake, and when,it can be an above average experience. Highly recommend the head of any of the arms if kayaking. Long Ravine has flush toilets and a $6 Twilight rate.

If you are looking for a huge rowdy drunken, pot smoking, place where domestic violence occurs followed by vomiting than this place is for you. We will NOT be back to camp here maybe a day trip but to stay the night with our kids NO WAY. The security in this place is non existent and weak to allow what goes on here happen.

Peninsula Family Campround, out on the peninsula campsites, is an excellent spot! Woke up each morning to the Eagle screeching, followed by a nice swim in the lake. The campground was very quiet as opposed to some of the others. Gates are locked at night, which seemed to control the flow of vehicles. Our campsite had a lake view and was close walking distance. We rented kayaks, and a fishing boat (very affordable), hiked at nearby Bear Creek and relaxed! The lake got a little busy on the weekend, but we enjoyed watching the boats. We have stayed at Greenhorn as well, but this spot was much more remote. Some of the other campgrounds do appear to be party-zones. Loved this location!
