Four courses to play and you never have to get in your car after arriving. Staff was great. Nice bar and restaurant. Can't wait to return.

Way too over priced. Snotty Staff would barely speak with us. Asked about making reservations and it seemed as if we were a burden to do so.

Garland sure has gone downhill. Whoever is running the resort must not realize what is important to some of the guest. Let’s start with the ban on Fountains; we loved the fact that we could play 8 rounds in 5 days on four different courses, not three. Now we don’t have this option. We understand that members should have special privileges but at the same time this is a resort whose own website STILL states you have 4 courses. Even better, close Fountains on weekends, or before noon or on certain days but to eliminate any course to all other golfers doesn’t seem to make business sense. The whirlpool only had about 2 jets working and those didn’t even work well. The pool isn’t heated any longer. You are in Northern Michigan and not Florida. If you’re going to have a pool it should be heated!! The refrigerator in our room didn’t work before we called maintenance or after he left even though he said we just didn’t have it on. The breakfast buffet on Sunday was the only option available. When some of our group asked for menus they were told that Garland didn’t have any menus. They were told that each item was available ala carte but without a menu. The menus magically appeared on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday when the crowd left and it didn’t make sense to offer a buffet from Garland’s point of view. The three days the buffet wasn’t available it was almost impossible to get a refill on coffee. This was all 3 days and the place was empty!! We also received to-go cups of coffee about the size of a Dixie cup when we left. Classless! It was sad driving away on Wednesday and realizing that we probably weren’t coming back next year based on all the issues which started with another price increase from the previous year and not getting anything for the extra money along with all these other issues.

We anticipated great golf and they delivered. The food was an unexpected surprise. Very creative, nice portions and quality. The Saturday Pig Roast is superb. Not your everyday roast but but creatively presented with scrumptious offerings.

The golf course and grounds are beautiful. The stuff that's easy to fix, i.e. service and amenities leaves a lot to be desired. The front desk made sure we knew all the rules with no smiles. Menu is average. Wifi is N/A in the 1 bedroom cabins and limited other areas. Management may need to first go for service training followed by empowering their staff.

The grounds are beautiful, the food is great. The golf courses are in great shape. I love the lodge, villas and log cabins. Wish the golf had some sort of weekly special.

OK it is fine for guys groups too but it is a nice place to share with your wife. Firstly, very good golf courses with many to choose from. Great pool, the accommodations are first rate. The staff is extremely welcoming, polite and professional. We had a great four day stay in summer of 2012. It is an upscale place with upscale pricing. I would like to have had more affordable meal and drinking options but then to stay as nice as they are, they need to charge more. Not too many options off of property so plan on spending a little bit more for this place. That is why i say couples because it makes for a nice retreat and romantic time to go with great golf.

Gourgeous and awesome property --- Cabin amenities need upgrading (TVs) And maybe a better Satellite service.

The facility is absolutely beautiful and the staff was extremely accommodating. It was a perfect place for anyone who would like to have a northern Michigan wedding. The fall colors were vibrant

Even though it was a short one, our 1-day & overnight & golf experience turned out to be so much better than we had expected. We played 18 on the beautiful and well manicured Monarch course with our friends who came up with us for this short get-away. The Garland Lodge is log-cabin rustic and a warm & cozy atmosphere exits for sure. Rooms were adequate for our one-night stay with sufficient ammenities including an in room coffee pot. Not being a fan of the provided "foam-pillows", my sleep wasn't the best. BUT, I did not call the front desk to ask if they had other pillows available ... perhaps they do so I can't hold that against them ! The king-size bed was quite comfortable though. The hotel was very clean throughout as were the well landscaped grounds, beautifully treed and abundant flowers around. We spoke with the charming Director of Guest Services, Susan Miesch, as well as the Front Desk Manager Diane about our enjoyable stay with hopes and a possibility of returning to Garland. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed out short stay and do hope to return for a longer stay with more golf to challenge our game. My wife and I are well-traveled and find Garland very inviting.

We just returned home from our trip to Garland for a mini vacation. We had never golfed there before and along with another couple decided to book a room and play a round of golf. Our biggest disappointment was that it was a mini-vacation! The course we played, the Monarch, was gorgeous and challenging enough without being over the top like so many resort courses are. The staff beginning with pro shop all the way up until we checked out, went out of their way to be polite and friendly. After golf we had dinner at the lodge, fabulous food and service. The ambience of this place completes the package, very tasteful lodge decor. Don't leave without breakfast, we all raved about it. I can't believe I've lived in Michigan all my life and have never been to Garland. I'm sure I'll make up for it in the coming years. We're considering their New Years Eve package, I bet it will be outstanding!

Got to the resort at 1:30 in the after noon for a 4:30 wedding. Went to check in and our room was not ready. We were told check in was at 4 pm. Front desk told us we could get dressed in locker room. We never got key to room until about 5:00 o'clock. People at front desk were not helpful and could care less about you.

Be sure you don't have to cancel last minute. And by last minute I mean 14 days before your arrival as they WILL NOT REFUND YOUR FIRST NIGHTS DEPOSIT. We made a reservation on a Friday and due to unforseen scheduling conflicts I had to cancel and did so on the following Monday. Well because we were scheduled to arrive in 12 days they WOULD not refund my first night's deposit which they sure did charge quickly to my account. they did offer to schedule another weekend, but at that point NO WAY. 14 days really, most places give you up to 72 hours before arrival. I just bet they get alot of forfieted first night deposits to help boost the profit. We wont be visiting there any time soon.

We stayed at Garland for two nights this January to attend the Gourmet Glide cross country skiing event. We stayed in a single villa, which had a king bedroom, bathroom with jacuzzi tub for 2, kitchenette and living room with a gas fireplace. The accommodations were very comfortable & clean. The biggest drawback was that our villa was a considerable hike from the parking lot. We had to carry our luggage through the snow in the dark in 5 degree weather to reach our villa, which was on the upper floor of the building. We did eat breakfast one day, which was included in our package, and it was average for breakfast food. The food at the Gourmet Glide was outstanding and delicious! The skiing was great, despite the harsh weather. The grounds are beautiful and very picturesque. A winter wonderland for sure!! The price was reasonable. I called and we were able to get a package that included everything, even ski rentals. I wanted to stay 3 nights, but they are only open Thursday-Sunday in the winter, and we couldn't make it until Friday night. it was a great trip and I would definitely recommend Garland & the Gourmet Glide to others.
