This is a truly historical building and authentic with a great story. They have art on display and give a great tour. The building has been a store, mill, hospital and art museum.

I was able to take a lot of beautiful pics at this historic mill even though it was actually closed the day I was there. I believe it is only open on the weekends.

This historic structure has a fascinating history and many of the rooms now function as an art gallery. In addition to etchings there are works paintings and sculpture of western themes. The sculpture in particular is world class.

We bought the book, Juana, about the wife of Charles Barnard who built the mill. Wonderful Texas history. This museum is fairly small so we took our time exploring and learning about the history and the art.

If you like local history, this should interest you. The buildings are from the original settlers in the area, and now serve as an art gallery. Great way to spend an afternoon if you like art and history. If not, you'll be bored to tears.

Six of us were given a private tour through the gallery (formerly a hospital) and former residence (previously a mill) by a polite and well-informed high school student docent. The art is from a private collection and well worth seeing. In addition, there was art from students at the local schools and a contest, in which we were asked to vote for our favorite submission by a student. This was in conjunction with the Art on the Square weekend. I recommend a visit to this historical site which is finding new life as a destination for culture in Glen Rose, TX.

Sitting unassumingly on Barnard Street is Barnard's Mill, the "hub" of early Glen Rose commerce. Now it is the showpiece of a nice collection of art, etchings and sculptures - plus a nicely restored area that was the original mill. There is no cost to wander through, but the tour is much more meaningful if there is someone at the reception desk that can walk you through and provide you with the highlights. There is much to see and learn and without a guide, you might miss something special.

The Mill was once a private residence and it has been converted to an art gallery. What a great surprise. A beautiful collection of paintings (some beautiful watercolors), etchings, sculptures, etc. Was not what I was expecting - in a good way. You can walk thru the part of the building that is set up like a home with period furniture. Well worth your time to walk thru.
